Niagara Falls - Is It Worth The Trip?

Yes, a thousand times yes. I recently saw a calendar entitled “Places to go before I Die.” Most certainly Niagara Falls is near the top of the list. Not only is this one of the Wonders of the World but it also lives up to the hype. It is truly wondrous.

First you hear the sound of the crashing water. Then you see the falls. Depending on which side you are on affects your overall perception of the falls. Although I am an American, I must say that the Canadian side of the falls is by far the better side. The falls are taller, the water is much more abundant, and the view is more beautiful. This is not to say that the American side isn’t worth a visit because it certainly is lovely, but there is a reason why the shops, attractions, hotels, and casinos are on the Canadian side. This is the side that everyone wants to see.

If you are planning a trip to Niagara Falls, plan to stay several days because there is so much to do besides watching the falls. I would plan for one whole day at the falls. You can ride the Maid of the Mist, weather permitting, go Behind the Falls, simply sit topside and watch the falls, take myriads of pictures, walk around the little town, and shop. The list goes on and on. Plan a picnic by the falls and simply allow your body to relax to the sounds of the water. Because our bodies are made up of 80% water, we react to sounds and sights of water. It is soothing to the soul and body. Make this a stress cleansing time. Allow your mind to absorb what it is seeing. Live in the moment. Don’t think of what you are going to do next. Think only of the beauty you see. Because this is more than likely a one time trip, treat the sights as such. Imprint them on your mind so that on stressful days, you can re-capture the feelings created by the falls.

Is a trip to Niagara Falls worth the money, time, and trouble. You already know the answer. Yes, everyone on the planet should have the opportunity to see this gorgeous creation of nature. You owe it to yourself and your family to visit Niagara Falls at least once in your lifetime. It’s never too late. I will certainly never forget my time in one of the Wonders of the World.
